The historic area of Roanoke serves as the backdrop for free concerts throughout the summer at Austin Street Place and the 3rd Rocks Independence Day Celebration. Spring brings about the Bunny Hop & Hunt, and the Revin' Up Roanoke downtown dining, music and celebration event. The Roanoke Famers Market is open April through September. Celebrate ROANOKE! is yet another fun-filled downtown event held in the fall. And of course, the Old Fashioned Christmas events and parade are a community favorite. The city also offers six parks with a variety of amenities for public recreation, including Ronaoke Community Park, where the Annual Kids Fishing Day event is held. Locals also enjoy a state of the art Recreation Center, which offers plenty of activities for everyone
